Our Story

The Caring Cup started when Lenea DeTore was on a trip with her family to Florida. She searched on the internet to find the highest-rated coffee shop in Sarasota, and that is how she found Rise & Nyes, a coffee and ice cream shop staffed by people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It then changed its name to Rise Up Café and now provides job training programs.

Lenea has a heart for those with physical and mental disabilities and was inspired by the owner, Beaver Shriver, and his coffee shop. She decided she wanted to bring the concept to her community in Lancaster, PA to share the joy it brought to those who worked at Rise Up Café.

Our Mission

The Caring Cup highlights the talents and abilities of those with intellectual and physical disabilities, encourages social participation, and develops a sense of belonging within the community.

Meet Our Board

The Caring Cup could not follow its mission, aid the community, or grow without the help of its supporters - especially those who sit on the board of directors. They give their time, money, and advice to help The Caring Cup provide for those who are impacted by disabilities.

“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.”
